High School Eligibility and Requirements

University of California: 9 campuses

  • Minimum weighted GPA: 3.0 for California Residents

  • A-G Requirements: Preferably Honors/AP courses

  • SAT/ACT Exams w/Writing (Important Note: Due to recent changes, check with the college/university you are applying to, to see if the SAT/ACT are still required)

  • AP/IP Exam Scores

  • Extracurricular Activities (i.e Special Talents, Achievements, Awards)

  • UC PIQs: 4 (350 word statements)

Graduate

Earn a high school diploma, or equivalent.

 

UC Freshman Admission Processes

Regular Admission

  • Application deadline ranges from Nov. 1 - Dec. 15 • Admission notification is given by April 15.

  • Enrollment decision must be made by May 1st

Rolling Admission

  • Applications are reviewed in the order in which they are submitted • Admission decisions are made in a relatively short time

  • More competitive as the year progresses

  • Enrollment decision must be made by May 1st

Early Decision – Binding

  • It is a binding contract between the student and the college/ university. You can only submit one Early Decision application

  • Application is due early (before December)

  • Admissions decisions are generally made before Christmas

Early Action – Non-Binding

  • Students receive an early response to their application but do not have to commit to the college until the normally reply date of May 1
